This month, Scaling MT is partnering with the Montana Ambassadors for the next installment of the Speaker Series, featuring Kellan Carter. Kellan is a Montana native and University of Montana alum who has become a leading voice in early-stage venture capital as the Founding Partner of FUSE.

FUSE is a Seattle-based venture capital firm investing $1–10 million in early-stage technology companies. FUSE backs founders building intelligent applications in vertical and enterprise software markets.

Kellan Carter - Founding Partner, FUSE

Kellan Carter is  the Founding Partner at FUSE, a Seattle-based VC firm that invests in $1-10M early stage technology companies. He  focuses on early-stage investments with a special interest in intelligent applications of vertical and enterprise software. Previously, he was a Partner at Ignition Partners, where he led early investments in companies like Icertis and Symend. He serves on several boards, including Avante, Owl, Zuper, Pictory, Freightmate, and the Boys & Girls Club of Bellevue. He is a UM Graduate and a Montana native who got his start in venture capital at Ignition Partners.

Spencer Buck - Executive Director, Montana Ambassadors

Spencer Buck currently serves as the Executive Director of the Montana Ambassadors, where he leads a statewide network of business, civic, and education leaders dedicated to advancing economic opportunity across Montana and expanding its global impact. With over a decade of experience growing businesses in sectors ranging from SaaS and eLearning to natural products and regenerative agriculture, Spencer has held key roles in both startups and established firms. Spencer holds a BFA degree from Montana State University and brings a creative, relationship-driven approach to leadership. As a Montana transplant, he is passionate about connecting people, telling authentic stories, and driving meaningful growth across the state.
