Sherri Davidoff and Matt Durrin will break down the latest SEO poisoning and malvertising research, including the Oyster/Broomstick campaign that hid backdoors inside fake installers. Learn how these attacks exploit everyday user behavior, why they’re so effective against trusted employees, and what your organization can do to stop them.

Sherri Davidoff - Chief Executive Officer, LMG Security
Sherri Davidoff is the CEO of LMG Security and the author of three books, including “Ransomware and Cyber Extortion” and “Data Breaches: Crisis and Opportunity.” As a recognized expert in cybersecurity, she has been called a “security badass” by the New York Times. Sherri is a regular instructor at the renowned Black Hat trainings and a faculty member at the Pacific Coast Banking School. She is also the co-author of Network Forensics: Tracking Hackers Through Cyberspace (Prentice Hall, 2012), and has been featured as the protagonist in the book, Breaking and Entering: The Extraordinary Story of a Hacker Called “Alien.” Sherri is a GIAC-certified forensic examiner (GCFA) and penetration tester (GPEN) and received her degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from MIT.
Matt Durrin - Director of Training and Response, LMG Security
Matt Durrin is the Director of Training and Research at LMG Security and a Senior Consultant with the organization. He is an instructor at the international Black Hat USA conference, where he has taught classes on ransomware and data breaches. Matt has conducted cybersecurity seminars, tabletop exercises and classes for thousands of attendees in all sectors, including banking, retail, healthcare, government, and more. He is also the co-author of a new book, Ransomware and Cyber Extortion: Response and Prevention. A seasoned cybersecurity and IT professional, Matt specializes in ransomware response and research, as well as deployment of proactive cybersecurity solutions. Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Montana, and his malware research has been featured on NBC Nightly News.

MPQA Space-based Lidar Remote Sensing (SLRS) Techniques and Emerging Technologies Workshop
What: Workshop discussing critical topics related to current and planned space lidar missions, techniques, and emerging technologies, hosted by the Montana Photonics and Quantum Alliance (MPQA)

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE EVENT:
The 4th international Space-based Lidar Remote Sensing (SLRS) workshop offers a platform for scientists and technologists from various countries, government agencies, industry, and universities to meet and discuss critical topics related to current and planned space lidar missions, techniques, and emerging technologies.
Additionally, it will serve as an opportunity to address challenges and common issues while exploring ways to enhance collaboration among space agencies and organizations. This collaboration is essential for improving future active space-based remote sensing measurements and is open to anyone interested in the future of Space Lidar technologies.
Workshop goals:
Evaluate the scientific requirements for space-based lidar measurements, instrument synergies, and the readiness of lidar techniques to fulfill these requirements.
Introduce upcoming space-based lidar missions and present / discuss results from existing and past lidar space-based missions.
Explore the challenges and future directions in research and technology development.
Explore strategies to reduce risks and costs for space-based lidar instruments while enhancing mission longevity.
Identify synergies and ways to enhance space lidar missions through international cooperation among various space agencies and organizations.
Document the results in the completion and update of the white paper from prior workshop.

Clayton Turner, Associate Administrator, Space Technology Mission Directorate
As Associate Administrator for the Space Technology Mission Directorate, Clayton oversees executive leadership, strategic planning, and overall management of all technology maturation and demonstration programs executed from the Directorate enabling critical space focused technologies that deliver today and help create tomorrow.
Clayton served as the Director of NASA’s Langley Research Center, Hampton, Virginia from 2019-2024. He led a diverse group of civil servant and contractor scientists, researchers, engineers and support staff, who worked to make revolutionary improvements to aviation, expand understanding of Earth’s atmosphere, develop new technologies for space exploration, and contribute to NASA’s broader exploration mission. Become a FIRST robotics competition volunteer and celebrate the accomplishments of students in science and technology across Montana. The FIRST Tech Challenge is seeking volunteers for its upcoming one-day scrimmage in Kalispell. Some volunteer positions can be split into morning shifts and afternoon shifts. All training for the roles will be provided through online videos or on-site by the Lead Volunteers. No prior robotics experience is necessary.

The Defense Innovation Unit’s OnRamp Hubs serve as regional “front doors” for non-traditional, dual-use, and commercial technology companies to engage with the Department of Defense. These hubs provide physical and digital spaces for mentoring, matchmaking, acquisition education, and transition support, helping innovators navigate complex DoD processes. The planned establishment of an OnRamp Hub in Bozeman, Montana, will expand local capacity by connecting Montana-based businesses, universities, and entrepreneurs directly with defense opportunities, funding pathways, and collaboration networks. This effort strengthens Montana’s position in the national defense innovation ecosystem while accelerating the fielding of critical capabilities for the DoD.

Sherri Davidoff is the CEO of LMG Security and the author of three books, including “Ransomware and Cyber Extortion” and “Data Breaches: Crisis and Opportunity.” As a recognized expert in cybersecurity, she has been called a “security badass” by the New York Times. Sherri is a regular instructor at the renowned Black Hat trainings and a faculty member at the Pacific Coast Banking School. She is also the co-author of Network Forensics: Tracking Hackers Through Cyberspace (Prentice Hall, 2012), and has been featured as the protagonist in the book, Breaking and Entering: The Extraordinary Story of a Hacker Called “Alien.” Sherri is a GIAC-certified forensic examiner (GCFA) and penetration tester (GPEN) and received her degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from MIT.
Matt Durrin - Director of Training and Response, LMG Security
Matt Durrin is the Director of Training and Research at LMG Security and a Senior Consultant with the organization. He is an instructor at the international Black Hat USA conference, where he has taught classes on ransomware and data breaches. Matt has conducted cybersecurity seminars, tabletop exercises and classes for thousands of attendees in all sectors, including banking, retail, healthcare, government, and more. He is also the co-author of a new book, Ransomware and Cyber Extortion: Response and Prevention. A seasoned cybersecurity and IT professional, Matt specializes in ransomware response and research, as well as deployment of proactive cybersecurity solutions. Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Montana, and his malware research has been featured on NBC Nightly News.
